what makes Matrix your all time favorite movie? Is it action? The characters or the funda behind it? But, do we really understand the funda?Image Here is an effort to understand the mechanism of the MATRIX!

Most of you who are reading this assume you understand the Keanu Reaves mega hit Matrix. Even if you understood the first 2, I am confident the 3rd and final one must have totally left you lost. And even if you understood  the 3rd part, the talk Reaves has with that White Haired oldie in the TV room must have definitely left your jaw gaping. So this is what it’s all about.

First – imagine you are a master and your Slave doesn’t know he is your slave. You cannot live without the slave and the slave cannot live without you. This will form the back drop of the entire matrix story. Let’s do some re engineering – or start with the end of the movie. What the white haired old man was saying was:

  • He was the architect of the huge piece of software called the matrix. This essentially means he designed the matrix.

  • When he set out to design the matrix for the very first time – the entire software crashed. If you recollect the software was a BLIND MASK in front of all the humans to make them believe that what they are seeing is indeed correct and REAL. The humans revolted and the system did not work.

  • Each time the Old Man made a new version of the software, it continued to crash – purely because he had made the software from a machine’s understanding of things – perfect. So the world was perfect with no issues and no problems. Soon, the humans (who were till now battery power for the Machines) started to rebel and the system crashed time and time again.

  • So the Architect designed a piece of code that was specifically made to monitor the humans and their behavior so as to come up with a solution for this problem. This piece of code is – The Oracle.

  • So the Oracle suggests a simple function to be added in the matrix, which will make humans completely surrender to this artificial world.

  • This Simple function, when added, made the Entire Matrix perfect, except for a glitch that was caused – this glitch in the system was the ONE – Keanu Reaves A.K.A Neo.

  • So what was this function? This function was CHOICE. As long as the humans were given a choice, they would accept what would happen to them. In other words, if you choose not to read any further from here, you will believe that this is YOUR decision, and whatever will happen after this will be a result of your choice. What you don’t know is that the decision has already been made for you. The system will still show you the same things and your life will move the exact same way even if you had taken the other decision, i.e. to continue to read this article. So as you see – in either case, you will accept whatever is the result of your decision. Only because YOU believe that the decision you took is real.

  • This simple choice ensured that the humans accepted the matrix and there were no more revolts. Everyone was happy.

  • But NEO – the hero, was born from the very first crash of the system. This crash resulted in THE ONE being born and eventually Neo reaches the mainframe (the main system computer – the old man with white hair) and talks to him.

  • The old man gives Neo 2 choices – to return to the matrix and fight with the sentinels to hope to save Xion and hope to save the human race. The other choice is to go to the mainframe and choose 23 new humans – unplug them and grow another Xion and come back 100 years later to talk to the same old man.

  • Because Neo was given the choice, each time he chose to go back and start with 23 new people afresh. The catch is that he couldn’t take the other choice simply because it will cause destruction of all humans and machines.

  • When Neo takes the choice to go back and save Trinity, what he doesn’t realize is that the machines cannot finish Xion. As you will see, causality is what causes this problem.

  • Either the Machines destroy Xion and kill themselves. This is because the system was stable right now with this current system. If Xion was destroyed, the system might collapse again and who knows how much time would go by to develop another version which the humans will accept.

  • The second choice was to not finish Xion and somehow try to save their own destruction.

  • This Choice, the one that was induced by the machines into the matrix, eventually became their nemesis. The only thing real, was Causality – Cause & Effect. Everything happens for a reason.

A lot of thinking has gone in that. What do you say? And now we know what the deal was all about. If you want to add to that get back to us. You know the website and the number to reach us.
