I don’t know about you, but I am one crazy fan of the Italian mafia. Be it Sopranos on Zee Café or Puzo’s Godfather – the concept itself is too good and I try to get as much as I can ! I just love them – especially their accent. “Analyze This” is probably one of the finest Italian Mob based comedies till date. Well … why won’t it be? It’s got Robert De Niro & Billy Crystal. Robert is a fine specimen of the Italian accent fitting into the American culture and Billy, with his semi serious touch is funny in a sweet way. Robert is Paul Vitti – a mobster who doesn’t like to be told what to do. He has issues; many of them. He is breaking apart and Billy is the psychiatrist (or ‘shrink’) who will help him get back his sanity. They meet up at Billy’s office and bada bing … bada boom … rest is history. How Billy tries to help him and Robert is a genuine mafia don at heart. The movie is all DIALOGUE. De Niro is so fine with his accent and his walk that it’s almost impossible not to find it funny. The language and the tone are fantastic. Lisa kudrow has a small and useless part. And then there is a cute pudgy guy called jelly. You don’t need to watch this on a theater. Get the CD and watch with some friends. If your sense of humor is above Govinda – this should be a good experience. |
